The end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 was a crucial time for me as an artist and as a person. Years of many changes, pressures, doubts and strong decisions to make. It was like the beginning of a New Era in all the areas of my life. I took the management of my career as an artist on my own, which was in some way a distraction for my inspiration, but as I said before, I was never afraid to walk the paths that come before me. I can always see the light and the positive side at the end of each new experience presented. The end of a period and the beginning of a new one was like finishing a masterpiece.

During a long period of time, I processed the idea to start a series of portrait paintings I would name “The Living Legends”, which would include the most influential people of our century. Personalities from around the globe that I feel are leaving something to the history of our world, from the arts to the sports, music, religion, science, etc., principally because they have characteristics and skills that differentiate them in their field.

I started to capture the idea on canvas and the result gave me much satisfaction. I am very grateful for these achievements, and for the people who made this possible, I feel that destiny, the right moment and the way I took the opportunity also played an important role in this trajectory.

Still, there are several personalities on my list whom I consider Living Legends, many already portrayed and some in progress. Among them, Dalai Lama, Leo Messi, Elon Musk, Fernando Botero, The Rolling Stones, Tiger Woods, and others.

With every portrait, I paint people’s bodies to capture their soul. It is fascinating to see how our bodies react according to the way we think. The way we treat them. The way it responds to the impulses we send unconsciously by our brain.

Very often, we think our body is not perfect because it does not look like certain magazine covers, or because it is not able to do what we are not prepared for. We have to be grateful for our body, for being our instrument in this physical world and for letting us feel and express our life through it.
